What to expect

Tsavo West forms one of the largest wildlife conservation areas on Earth and is one of the largest national parks in Kenya. With a rich history of the Tsavo Man Eaters, your history lessons will come alive. Witness huge variety of landscapes including swamps, natural springs, rocky peaks, extinct volcanic craters, rolling plains and sharp outcrops blanketed by greenery. Witness diverse topography of riverine vegetation, vast grasslands, dense acacia woodlands, rocky outcrops and semi-arid desert shrubbery - the perfect habitats for Kenya's northern and southern species.

Itinerary

10 Days African Delights Expedition

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and assisted to transfer to Emakoko. The Emakoko is a boutique lodge uniquely positioned on the edge of the Nairobi National Park. It is located a short 45 minute drive from either of Nairobi’s airports. The drive through the park itself, with its beautiful scenery and abundance of plains game is a superb way to start any East African safari. What better way to start a holiday by supporting the conservation of this unique area and in particular, by supporting the endangered Black Rhino which are prolific in this park.

The Nairobi National Park, despite its proximity to the capital city of Kenya, boasts a spectacular assortment of birds and wildlife, with over 400 species of bird recorded in one day. With an excellent possibility of spotting four of the Big Five, many Nairobi residents find the lodge a perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of city life. By staying at The Emakoko you are directly contributing to the protection and conservation of Nairobi National Park and its wildlife.

Emakoko: 1 Night

The Emakoko is a family-run lodge built only a 45-minute transfer from both of Nairobi’s airports, allowing guests to begin and finish their holiday in nature. Nestled in the slopes of a valley on the Mbagathi River, this beautiful lodge sits on the border of Nairobi’s National Park. In this fantastic alternative to struggling through the hustle and bustle of Kenya’s capital city, guests can enjoy the natural wildlife on their way in and out of the country.

Although one of Kenya’s smaller parks, there is an abundance of wildlife species to see at The Emakoko Lodge. When guests aren’t out on game drive, the beautiful rooms of The Emakoko Lodge is a place they can call home. Five rooms are situated by the main area and a further five positioned on the cliff top enjoy spectacular views overlooking the valley.

Breakfast and transfer to the Wilson airport for your scheduled flight to Tsavo West, the stage for the “Out Of Africa” movie (must watch prior). Check in at the luxurious Soroi Lions Bluff Lodge. Breakfast at the camp and then transfer to the airstrip for flight to the world famous Laikipia. Met and transferred to your Loisaba Tented Camp. Loisaba Tented Camp is a luxury camp offering abundant wildlife and sweeping views. Perched on the edge of an escarpment, Loisaba Tented Camp is designed to take advantage of unhindered views across the Laikipia Plateau’s breath-taking landscape, all the way to the peaks of Mount Kenya. The theme of the camp is one of African elegance and style, enhanced by an expansive panorama, which can be enjoyed from the large open dining area, the relaxing sitting area and bar, the tranquil wooden deck, and one of Africa’s most picturesque infinity pools.

Laikipia is a private conservancy, so you can drive off the trails. There will be nobody else in the vehicle, which means that you can spend as much time at specific scenes and capture wildlife from a complete variety of angles. Naturally, the game drives will maximize the best light at the beginning and end of the day. This is also when animals are most active. This is a fabulous destination for capturing photos of rhinos. Back and white rhinos live here in large numbers, and hopefully, you will be able to capture a shot of the two side by side. Big cat sightings are common with lions, leopards, and cheetahs being regularly spotted. Overall, these two days can revolve around any animals that you wish to photograph.

Loisaba Tented Camp

Loisaba Tented Camp: 3 Nights

Perched on the edge of an escarpment, Loisaba Tented Camp is designed to take advantage of unhindered views across the Laikipia Plateau’s breath-taking landscape, all the way to the peaks of Mount Kenya. The theme of the camp is one of African elegance and style, enhanced by an expansive panorama, which can be enjoyed from the large open dining area, the relaxing sitting area and bar, the tranquil wooden deck, and one of Africa’s most picturesque infinity pools.

The nine spacious and airy tents are custom-designed with large floor-to-ceiling doors and windows, polished wood floors, chic African furnishings and wide verandas from which to enjoy the endless views. While the luxurious ensuite bathrooms provide flush toilets, double-basin vanities and solar-heated hot water, which cascades from rainfall showers to deliver a revitalising cleanse after an adventurous day. Guests are offered a myriad of exciting activities including day and night game drives, horse riding, camel-trekking, guided bush walks, fishing, mountain biking and cultural visits to a Samburu village; ensuring that every moment at Loisaba Tented Camp is unforgettable.

You will check out of your camp this morning after breakfast and transfer to the airstrip to catch your light aircraft flight to the famous Masai Mara, on arrival you will be met and transferred to &Beyond Bateleur Camp with game drive enroute. Set amongst the forest at the foot of the scenic Oloololo escarpment (the rim of the Great Rift Valley) in Kenya’s iconic Masai Mara National Reserve, is the classic and elegant Bateleur Camp. Here, amidst the reserve’s astounding year-round concentration of animals, including the seasonal Great Wildebeest Migration, guests can have an unsurpassed wildlife experience. Guests can almost exclusively explore this area on a game drive or on foot, enjoying access to pristine outdoor dining locations.

The Masai Mara National Reserve is arguably Kenya’s premier wildlife sanctuary, a staggering untouched natural park comprising sprawling emerald pastures, rugged rocky outcrops, and dense viridian forests. Furthermore, Masai Mara is home to the world’s ultimate wildlife spectacle, the Great Migration. Should you travel to Masai Mara during the appropriate time of year, you will have the fortune of witnessing this impressive natural display in which millions of wildebeest, gazelle, zebra, and other creatures sprint across the Serengeti towards the greener plains of Kenya while many predators seek kills during the chaos.

&Beyond Bateleur Camp

&Beyond Bateleur Camp: 3 Nights

Comprised of just two intimate camps of nine Luxury Tents each and a Luxury Family Tent; each with its own private butler and housekeeper reflects the ambiance and glamour of Kenyan explorers of old. Slip into a world of hardwood floors, polished silver and copper bathtubs juxtaposed against the romance of the open Mara plains, with their abundant herds of wildlife. Beautifully handcrafted artefacts, fine antiques, leather buttoned Chesterfield sofas, books, and crystal and candlelight adorn the comfortable sitting and dining areas.

Refreshing lap pools in each camp provide cool comfort in between captivating game drives. Delectable cuisine is served in a memorable setting beneath the stars and bush breakfasts and romantic sundowners offer an unforgettable African experience. Adventures at Bateleur Camp include twice-daily game drives, including spot-lit night drives. The camp also offers a range of additional activities such as bush walks, hot air balloon safaris, community excursions, a well- equipped gym and wellness treatments in our massage sala.

Early morning breakfast, you will thereafter be transferred to the airstrip for your maiden flight to Wilson airport Nairobi. Marking the end of another memorable tour. Lunch will be on own arrangements. An optional dayroom can be arranged depending on your desires and also your flight time. Therafter transfer to JKIA for your onward flight.
