Itinerary
8 Days Honeymoon Bush Safari
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and assisted to transfer to Hemingways Nairobi. Overlooking the Ngong Hills in Nairobi’s tranquil and upscale neighbourhood of Karen, this luxurious boutique hotel is a haven of elegant charm. With great service and a tranquil atmosphere, Hemingways Nairobi makes an ideal 1- or 2-night stopover for travellers beginning or ending their Kenya safari. It is popular with high-level delegations and VIPs, and is a sought-after meeting place for well-heeled Kenyans.

Hemingways Nairobi: 1 Night
Hemingways Nairobi has a sophisticated and tranquil ambiance. Each of the 45 suites is a generous size, all with walk-in dressing rooms and a terrace with magnificent views of the Ngong Hills. Enjoy a light lunch in the Brasserie overlooking the well tended gardens.
Karen is the site of Karen Blixen’s farm, as highlighted in the film Out of Africa. Her house is now a museum and worth a visit. Take an exhilarating trip to Nairobi National Park to see buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, baboon, zebra, wildebeest, rhino and cheetah. Return to Hemingways Nairobi for international cuisine in the fine dining restaurant.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to your local airstrip onto your schedule flight to Meru National Park. On landing you will be met and assisted to transfer and check in at the famous Elsa's Kopje. Barely visible on approach, Elsa’s Kopje blends seamlessly into its surrounds. Perched high on top of Mughwango Hill, this superb lodge stands as tribute to Elsa, the orphaned lioness made famous in the movie Born Free. Charming cottages are crafted around the natural features of the hill, each with a spacious bedroom, open sitting rooms, ensuite bathroom and large veranda with breath-taking views of the savannah below. Elsa’s Private House – with double rooms, a sitting room, veranda and plunge pool – is ideal for families.
Meru is an example of how wildlife can thrive when its space is protected. It is a success story: the land has been conserved and the animals have been protected. Wildlife populations have doubled and tripled, and today, they continue to rise at a great speed. After a short drive to Meru National Park, you will discover the wonders of wildlife conservation while out on game drives with conservationist guides. They will lead you off the trails to show how certain animals are now flourishing, including the African cheetah.

Elsa’s Kopje: 3 Nights
After an activity-packed stay at Meru National Park, it will be time to move south to the rolling plains of the Masai Mara. You will leave Meru on a private charter that will fly via Nanyuki to the Mara. Be sure to look out your window as you touch down temporarily in Nanyuki – this airport is located right at the base of the snow-capped Mount Kenya. From the air, you are sure to receive your most impressive views.
Upon arrival at the Olderkesi conservancy, you will be met and assisted to transfer to Cottars 1920's Camp. The entire area spans approximately 80 square kilometres and teeming with elephants, big cats and giraffes. With only one safari camp in operation within its boundaries, Olderkesi is one of the most exclusive conservancies in the Masai Mara. The conservancy is managed by two trusts, Cottar’s Wildlife Conservancy Trust and the Olderkesi Wildlife Community Trust. The partnership between these two trusts has ensured that wildlife in the area is protected from poaching and that the land is no longer fragmented for farming.
The conservancy is made up of a variety of different types of interesting and beautiful landscapes such as grasslands, forests, riverine valleys and woodlands. Conservation efforts have transformed the area into a refuge for many different types of wildlife and a main throughway for the great annual wildebeest migration. The original inhabitants of the area, the Maasai, also still live nearby.

Cottars 1920's Camp: 3 Nights
The Cottar family have been providing safaris for more than 100 years and focuses on providing an authentic and individualized safari experience and supporting an ongoing legacy of wilderness, wildlife, comfort and security and honouring a balance between conservation, prosperous commerce, community and culture.
The 1920s Camp provides the romance of safari under cream canvas tents, the style of the bygone era of the twenties, while at the same time supplying the amenities required by today’s modern world travellers and professional guides whose qualifications are some of the highest in Africa.
