House of Waine

House of Waine: 1 Night

Owned by Eric and Angela Marungi, and situated in Langata, the House of Waine sits on 2.5 acres of manicured garden, and offers its guests the kind of ambience and service that one would associate with a very well run international hotel. A smallish 11 bed-roomed hotel, the House of Waine is known for its attention to detail, and for the design of its rooms, all of which are slightly different. Shared areas include a lounge, a dining room, terraces, a heated pool (complete with pavilion and outdoor bar) and a main bar. The decor is somewhat traditional – beiges, browns, creams – but beautifully maintained, and helps create an atmosphere that is at once calm and private.

The rooms themselves are all en suite, 9 of which serve as either single, twin or double rooms. Simply – and sometimes incongruously – decorated, they are highly comfortable. The food is straightforward and tasty, while is service is friendly and efficient. Returning guests comment on the willingness of staff to assist with any and all queries.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Wilson airport for your schedule flight to Kimana Sanctuary, Amboseli National Park, you will be met and assisted transfer to Angama Amboseli. Angama Amboseli is an intimate lodge in the heart of Kimana Sanctuary, Kenya’s first community-owned conservancy, renowned for its lush landscape and remarkable density of wildlife — along with its famed backdrop, Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. Set within a Fever Tree forest where some of Africa’s last Super Tuskers roam — elephants with tusks so large they drag along the ground as they walk — Angama Amboseli is a gentle start or finish to any East African safari.

Kimana Sanctuary is the first community conservancy established in Kenya, and is owned by 844 Maasai family members. Thanks to its perennial stream, the Sanctuary boasts the greatest habitat diversity and wildlife density in the area attracting scores of eland, reedbuck, warthogs in their hundreds, along with giraffe, zebra and wildebeest. Even the elusive leopard and lions can be seen here, along with many species of bird.

Angama Amboseli

Angama Amboseli: 2 Nights

With just 10 Guest Suites in a private wildlife conservancy, Angama Amboseli is respite from the world. A haven for the prolific elephant population in this ecosystem, get up close to the relaxed resident herds and their calves as they saunter through the Sanctuary just as you do. The rough texture found on the exterior of the buildings is also a gift from the elephants — their dung, mixed with concrete.

Each Guest Area and Suite has been designed around uninterrupted views of Kili even from the bed to the vanity mirror. Exclusive traversing rights and unrestricted game viewing, guests can enjoy everything from night drives to early morning Pyjama Safaris

You will tuck into breakfast and then transfer through Amboseli to a local airstrip, where you will catch a flight to Mugie Conservancy. Sitting on the rim of the Great Rift Valley, Laikipia is home to thriving private reserves, top-tier luxury accommodation, healthy populations of big game and awe-inspiring views sure to take your breath away. Set on the private Mugie Conservancy, Governors’ Mugie House is a 5-star home away from home nestled in a prime and unique location. The charming stone cottages sit on a hill overlooking the rolling Laikipia plains and exude a warm, inviting air that feels as familiar and comfortable as your own place. It’s the ideal base from which to explore the vast landscape and encounter the abundant wildlife roaming the area.

Mugie House

Mugie House: 3 Nights

Mugie House offers an exceptional African safari experience. No two days are the same and there is a variety of exciting activities to keep you entertained. Day and night drives take you through the conservancy in search of big game, time spent in the hide provides the opportunity to photograph visitors to the watering hole, while the Mugie Dam is the perfect spot to do some kayaking. Best of all, you can interact with Tala, Mugie House’s resident giraffe.

Eight stone cottages, each with panoramic views of the Laikipia landscape, are perched on a hill at Governors’ Mugie. A spacious main house with open log fires welcomes guests for relaxing cocktails and delicious meals, while an infinity pool provides shaded areas for casual, open-air dining. The waterhole and purpose-built hide below the house attract a variety of wildlife.

You will check out of your camp this morning after breakfast and transfer to the airstrip to catch your light aircraft flight to the famous Maasai Mara, a world-famous reserve consisting of vast, open savannas, riverine forests, and rolling emerald hills. The region brags an abundance of wildlife that you will discover from the minute you arrive and partake in a guided safari through the bushveld. You will snap up stellar photography of your wilderness finds, from lions walking with their cubs to communions of zebra, buffalo, and giraffe.

With access to over 100,000 acres of private wilderness in a remote part of the Maasai Mara, far off from the beaten route and crowds, our guests enjoy a rare glimpse of the Great Migration along this vast eco-system. As Kenya’s oldest and most esteemed safari region, this quiet setting provides a remarkable riverine and woodland landscape attracting year-round wildlife in large numbers. In season, when the migration loops round from the Serengeti into rain-sweetened Kenyan plains, millions of wildebeest and zebra trek through the conservancy with predators hot on their trail. A perfect immersion in the beauty, drama and culture of East Africa.

Angama Mara

Angama Mara: 3 Nights

Suspended mid-air on a cliff overlooking the Great Rift Valley and Mara plains, Angama Mara has a very modern and elegant feel to it. The view is second to none and is only rivalled by the abundance of wildlife roaming the area. This first-class safari lodge in the heart of the Mara Triangle is just the place to experience an adventurous African safari, without having to sacrifice comfort and luxury. Built and run by the Fitzgerald family, Angama Mara sits high on the Rift Valley’s Oloololo Escarpment, bordering the Mara Triangle, Maasai Mara. Serviced by a private hardtop airfield, from the moment guests arrive at Angama Mara they are welcomed into spacious architecture that stresses expanses of open glass and decking from which to appreciate the spectacular views.

There is a pavilion between the two residential areas that offers a fitness centre, a large pool, a gallery of local arts and crafts and a workshop in which Maasai women make bespoke jewellery. The property even includes the actual kopje where key scenes from Out of Africa were filmed, and guests wake in the morning to the sight of hot-air balloons ascending over the valley directly outside the windows. Widespread Wi-Fi coverage is available across the accommodation.

5am coffee, early morning game drive. Breakfast. You will thereafter be transferred to the airstrip for your maiden flight to Wilson airport Nairobi. Marking the end of another memorable tour. Lunch will be on own arrangements, therafter transfer to JKIA for your onward flight.
